A brief biography
Voted in the Top 10 Female Vocalists category in the 2021 Prog Reader's Poll by PROG MAGAZINE!
Originally a classically trained pianist, Amanda fell in love with the power of rock and the overdriven guitar. But not being one to be constrained to any one musical genre, she has blended the boundaries throughout her musical career between prog rock, blues, rock, jazz, folk and classical. An accomplished vocalist/songwriter, Amanda has written, recorded and performed extensively over the years, and her new solo album INNOCENCE and ILLUSION was released 20 August 2021. This is available to order from Amanda's WEBSTORE
Amanda has also released a single ONE LAST SPIN, written to complement a film documentary to highlight the issue of gambling harms.
Amanda spent her early musical years gigging extensively throughout the UK with her bands. She has also been involved in various duo and solo work (the main duo being Wazzoon - Amanda Lehmann & Eddy Deegan). Their album "Through the Haze", recorded in 1994 - has been remastered and is available for download on the WEBSTORE.
Amanda also released her Shadow EP in 2010, which can also be downloaded on the WEBSTORE, or you can check it out on Amanda's You Tube channel, or on streaming (Apple, Amazon, Spotify, etc)
Amanda has announced the release of her brand new solo album INNOCENCE and ILLUSION which can be ordered from the WEBSTORE.
Work with Steve Hackett
From 2009 Amanda has been playing guitar and backing / lead vocals with Steve Hackett, joining the band on the UK 2009 tour, and continuing throughout 2010 - 2013.
Amanda also features on several of Steve Hackett's albums and live DVDs, and regularly appears as a guest at some of his shows.
Harmony For Elephants
Amanda wrote and recorded a track specially for a charity album project - Harmony for Elephants.
The album features new tracks by Steve Hackett, Anthony Phillips, Roger King, Nick Magnus, Nad Sylvan, Rob Townsend, Amanda Lehmann, Andy Neve, Tony Patterson, Brendan Eyre, Andy Tillison, Dale Newman and Anna Madsen. The album features new music donated to raise funds and awareness for the charity Elephants for Africa, an organisation dedicated to protecting the endangered African elephant through research and education.
Other projects
Amanda is currently taking time out of the touring scene to be at home with her son, and appears whenever she can as a special guest at Steve Hackett shows, and is also a regular contributor of vocals on his studio ablums.
Amanda also enjoys collaborating on other musical projects, which have included working with Nick Magnus, Ivan Jacquin (Foreign), Temple Of Switches, Sarastro Blake (Paolo Pigni), Stewart Clark, Kurt Michaels, and others.
In 2015/16 Amanda spent a couple of glam rock years playing electric, acoustic and vocals with a Heart tribute band, "Reckless Heart" as "Nancy".
